Edward Garcia Jr. passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the age of 98. Born September 30, 1919 to parents, Edward and Maria in Stockton CA.
Edward is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James and Edie Garcia, grandchildren: Christine, Daniel, Marina and Alex, plus three great grandchildren.

Edward was predeceased by his loving wife, Glendyl Louise, in 2000. They celebrated over 56 years of marriage. He also was predeceased
by his son, Danny, in 2013 and all of his immediate family members.

Edward graduated from Franklin High School in Los Angeles, Class of 1939. He also played 3 years of varsity football for Franklin High School.
Edward worked through high school and afterwards learning a trade at Associated Piping and Engineering Co. In October 1940, he was drafted into the
U.S. Army but chose to join the U.S. Navy instead. Prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor, Edward was stationed on the
Hawaiian Islands. On December 7, 1941, Edward was on the USS Dorsey at sea and bound for Johnson Island on a training mission.
Upon receiving news of the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Dorsey ended the mission and rapidly returned to Pearl Harbor for assistance/reassignment.

Edward received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy in October 1945, with a rank of Petty Officer First Class, Occupation Shipfitter First Class.
Edward and Glendyl had two sons: Danny in 1947 and James in 1956. His employment through the years included street car driver, bus driver, milkman,
independent truck driver, and certified welder. Edward retired from Utility Trailer Manufacturing as foreman after 29 years.

A 33-year resident of Apple Valley, Edward and Glendyl attended the humble beginnings of Jess Ranch
Community Church in the early days. He continued to attend church up until the last Sunday of his life.

The memorial service and burial will be on Monday, January 22, at 11 a.m., beginning with the viewing at 9 a.m. at Desert View Memorial Park Victorville CA.
